What Does the Town Clerk Actually Do?

The Clerk is a licensing agent and the official custodian of all town records, property deeds, and local laws, and acts as the recording secretary for all Town Board meetings. Licensing and permits provided through this office include marriage licenses, hunting/fishing/trapping licenses, disabled parking permits, dog licenses, block party permits, peddler/solicitor licenses, and racing/wagering licenses. Other services include processing passport applications as well as maintaining town records and archives.

While candidates campaign under political banners, the actual execution of the Clerk's office is strictly administrative. The Clerk registers records, issues licenses, and executes minutes. Justin believes this office should be run efficiently and neutrally, serving all residents with equal care regardless of affiliation.

Clay Town Hall is located at 4401 State Route 31, Clay, NY 13041. The Clerk's office is open from Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

Any United States citizen who resides in the town of Clay, is at least 18 years of age by Election Day, and is registered to vote in Onondaga County is eligible to participate.
